TypeTool V3
TypeTool is our basic font editor For students, hobby typographers and creative professionals who occasionally need to create or customize fonts. Create new fonts or modify existing fonts, open any fonts installed on your system (improved in version 3). Open and generate PostScript Type 1 and TrueType fonts.

Automatically or manually hint and kern your fonts, add ligatures, old style figures, fractions, currency symbols, correct em dashes, apostrophes, quotation marks and foreign characters to your fonts, make your own dingbat or clipart fonts, make font variations with the new transformation tools.

TypeTool Specifications:
Opens/Imports: Win Type 1 (.pfb), ASCII/Unix Type 1 (.pfa), TrueType / OpenType TT (.ttf), OpenType PS (.otf), EPS, BMP, TIFF, FontLab 2.5 (.vfa), FontLab 3.x, FontLab 4.x, FontLab Studio 5 (.vfb). Mac version also opens Mac Type 1 (FFIL/LWFN/.suit) and Mac TrueType (FFIL/.dfont).

Generates/Exports:Win Type 1 (.pfb), ASCII/Unix Type 1 (.pfa), TrueType / OpenType TT (.ttf), OpenType PS (.otf), EPS, BMP, TIFF, FontLab 3.x, FontLab 4.x, FontLab Studio 5 (.vfb). Mac version also generates Mac Type 1 (FFIL/LWFN/.suit) and Mac TrueType (FFIL/.dfont). Note: Editing of advanced typographic OpenType Layout features is not possible.

Tools/operations: Drawing, Erase, Rotate, Skew, Zoom, Insert Node, Remove Overlap, Merge Contours, Intersect Contours, Break/Join Contour, Snap to Guides, Meter, Autohint, Remove hints, Decompose, Knife, Magic wand select, Add corner, Add curve, Add tangent, Brush, Pen, Line, Text, Rectangle, Ellipse, Action (8 filters), Undo (200 levels).

Windows: Glyph Window, Font Window, Font Info Dialog, Metrics/Kerning Window, Font Map, context sensitive popup menus and property windows.

Encoding: 40 built-in encodings (Adobe, Microsoft, Apple, ISO); 150+ built-in codepages (Adobe, Microsoft, Apple, ISO, IBM, OS/2) including 2-byte Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

Printouts: Font Table, Font Sample, Glyph Sample.

ScanFont V5
With ScanFont, you can turn graphics into fonts. Any bitmap image or outline illustration can be quickly converted into a fully-workable TrueType, Type 1 or OpenType font. ScanFont 5 works as a plugin for one of the following font editors: FontLab Studio 5, TypeTool 3 or the upcoming AsiaFont Studio 5.

TypeTool Specifications:
Import formats: PNG, JPG, GIF, TIF, EPS, ScanFont 3 Document (.sfd), ScanFont 4 Document (.sf). On Windows also: BMP. On Mac OS X also: PDF. Also imports directly from scanner.

Export Formats: FontLab Document (.vfb), ScanFont 4 Document (.sf). Outline glyphs can be exported to one of the following supported Fontlab outline font editors: FontLab Studio 5.0.3 or higher, TypeTool 3.0.0 or higher, AsiaFont Studio 5.0.0. Older versions of those products will not work.

Tools: Edit bitmaps (select, marquee, freehand, magic wand, pencil, brush, eraser, fill, line, polygon, rectangle, ellipse, text). Manage glyph shapes (separate, cell, knife, scale). Trace.

Filters: Character separation, Fill, Noise reduction, Blur, Sharpen, Colorize, Resize, Rotate, Enhance, custom filters.

Windows: Image, context sensitive popup menus and property windows.
